Temporary and backup power
Use a diesel generator for temporary power while a site is being built, or as backup power. If the generator will run pumps, refrigeration or anything else where a stop could cause loss or harm, tell us in writing first and ask us about backup equipment.
Choosing the right size
You tell us your load, how you’ll use the generator and the site conditions, and you choose the size and type. Any sizing help we give is a guide only, based on the information you give us.
Mostly light loads? Published engine-maker guidance says running a diesel-only set below about 30% of rated power can cause wet stacking. A hybrid generator may suit better; see our running cost example.
Dry hire and wet hire
- Dry hire: fuel, daily checks (fuel, oil, coolant, leaks) and load limits are your job.
- Wet hire: we refuel on the schedule in your quote. Between visits, fuel levels are yours to watch.

- Or buy, for sites that need it long term. Warranty and servicing are provided under each unit’s own service arrangements; we’ll confirm what applies with your quote.

Equipment can fail. For pumps and other critical loads, you need backup power and a failure alarm, and you must tell us before the hire. See our hire terms.
