Size guide

What size do you need?

Pick generator, battery storage or fuel tank, drag the slider (1 to 2000 kVA, or 100 to 70,000 litres for fuel tanks) and see the size band. Tell us your size and we'll source it. Bands are indicative only and your load is confirmed in your quote. kW is roughly kVA × 0.8 for running load only; motors and other equipment with high starting loads need extra headroom, and we’ll confirm sizing in your quote.

Use arrow keys to fine-tune, or type a size: kVA

Why hybrid

Less diesel. Less noise.

A hybrid set pairs solar panels and a battery with a diesel generator. The battery carries the load most of the time, and the engine only starts when it's needed.

Lower fuel bills

Hybrid gear burns less fuel than diesel-only, so running costs come down.

Quieter sites

Less engine running means less noise for crews, neighbours and events.

Fewer emissions

Helps clients working to emissions targets and sustainability reporting.

Running cost

Diesel-only fuel cost, at a recent diesel price

One week of 24/7 site power at the Gold Coast city average diesel price on 25 Oct 2026, used as a reference: 278.2¢/L, or 252.9¢/L ex GST.1

Weekly fuel use and cost, ex GST, 30 kVA class units (estimates; results vary by site, season and load)
Average site loadDiesel-onlyHybrid + solar

site office, crib room, lighting
$1,232487 LDepends on your site; ask us for a comparison
Medium, 12 kW$1,742689 LDepends on your site; ask us for a comparison

With the 53.7¢/L fuel tax credit, eligible businesses may be able to lower their net diesel cost. Eligibility depends on the business.2

Light loads are also hard on diesel-only sets. Published engine-maker guidance says running below about 30% of rated power can cause wet stacking (unburned fuel and carbon build-up).3 Every litre of diesel burned releases about 2.7 kg of CO₂-e, so less engine running means lower emissions.4

Estimates, not a guarantee. Assumes 24/7 running and counts fuel only (no hire, delivery or servicing). Diesel-only uses published fuel-use figures for a typical 30 kVA diesel generator set at 25% and 50% load.5 Hybrid fuel use depends on your load, solar and battery size, so we don’t publish a general figure. Results vary by site, season and load. Ask us for a total-cost comparison for your site.

Hire terms

Please read these before you hire. We deliver only after you accept them by signing your quote acceptance.

  • If our gear fails, we repair or replace it as soon as reasonably practicable, and we don't charge hire while it's down because of a failure you didn't cause.
  • Equipment can fail. For pumps and other critical loads, you need backup power and a failure alarm, and you must tell us before the hire.
  • Neither of us pays the other for knock-on losses such as flooding, downtime or delays.
  • You look after the gear from delivery until we collect it, and you hold your own insurance.
  • Beyond repairing or replacing our gear (or paying that cost), we don't pay for other losses. See clause 7.
  • Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law still apply.
Full hire terms (version 3, 31 October 2026)

1. Who you're dealing with

These terms are between you (the customer named on the quote) and RAW Rental (ABN 33 771 995 891) ("RAW", "we", "us"). If you hire as trustee of a trust, you're responsible both yourself and as trustee. If you are a company, we only ask for a director's guarantee if it is written on the quote.

2. When these terms apply

2.1 We only deliver after you accept these terms (version 3, dated 31 October 2026) by signing the quote acceptance (or by ticking an online acceptance box, once we offer one). A delivery docket only repeats them.

2.2 These terms, plus your accepted quote, are the whole agreement. Nothing anyone says outside them (in person, by phone, text or chat) adds to them. Any special promise must be written on the quote.

2.3 We can change these terms for later hires only, with notice. Changes never apply to a hire that's already running unless you agree.

3. Australian Consumer Law

3.1 If the Australian Consumer Law applies to you, you have guarantees that can't be excluded. Nothing in these terms limits them, except as the ACL allows.

3.2 For equipment not ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use, our liability for breaching a consumer guarantee is limited, as the ACL allows, to (at our choice): repairing the equipment, replacing it or supplying equivalent equipment, or paying the cost of repairing or replacing it. For services, it's supplying them again or paying the cost of doing so.

3.3 If any part of these terms can't legally apply, it's read down as far as needed, or cut out, and the rest still applies.

4. Choosing the right equipment

4.1 You tell us your load, how you'll use the equipment and the site conditions. You choose the size and type. Any sizing help we give is a guide only, based on the information you give us.

4.2 Critical loads. If the equipment will run anything where a stop could cause loss or harm (for example dewatering or other pumps, refrigeration, medical or life-safety gear), you must tell us in writing and mark it on your quote acceptance. For critical loads you're responsible for:

(a) backup power or automatic changeover;

(b) a failure alarm with remote alerts;

(c) fuel and site checks outside working hours, including nights and weekends.

Ask us about backup equipment. If you don't arrange backup and monitoring, you accept that risk.

4A. Hire period, charges and payment

4A.1 The hire period, minimum hire, rates, delivery and collection charges are as set out in your quote. Prices include GST unless the quote says otherwise.

4A.2 Hire runs from delivery until we collect the equipment, or until you return it to us. If you keep it past the agreed end date, hire continues at the quoted rate.

4A.3 You pay as set out in the quote and invoice. If you don't pay on time, we may charge reasonable recovery costs, and after reasonable notice we may end the hire and collect the equipment.

4A.4 If the equipment comes back dirty, or with less fuel than when it was delivered (dry hire), we may charge cleaning and refuelling at the rates in the quote.

5. Your duties during the hire

5.1 Use it safely, within its rated load and as instructed. Do daily checks (fuel, oil, coolant, leaks). Keep it out of water and flood-prone spots. Don't move it off site, sub-hire it, tamper with it or repair it without our OK.

5.2 Dry hire: fuel, daily checks and load limits are your job. Failures from wrong or contaminated fuel, running dry, overload, misuse, water or flooding of the unit, or tampering are your risk and cost.

5.3 Wet hire: we refuel on the schedule in your quote. Between visits, fuel levels are your responsibility to watch.

5A. Our equipment in your care

5A.1 You're responsible for the equipment from delivery until we collect it. You pay for its loss, theft or damage beyond fair wear and tear, less any damage waiver you've bought (see 9.3).

5A.2 Report any loss, theft or damage to us straight away, and report theft to the police.

6. If the equipment fails

6.1 "Failure" means any breakdown, malfunction, stop, failure to start, tripping, running out of fuel, or fault in any control or alarm.

6.2 If there's a Failure, you must:

(a) stop using it if it's unsafe;

(b) take reasonable steps to protect people, the site and the works;

(c) tell us straight away by phone on 0433 161 616 and in writing to [email protected].

6.3 We'll use reasonable endeavours to attend, repair or replace the equipment as soon as reasonably practicable. We don't guarantee any response time. We don't charge hire while the equipment is down because of a Failure that isn't caused by you.

6.4 Report any fault you find at delivery within 2 hours of delivery or first use, whichever is later.

7. Limits on liability

7.1 Consequential Loss means: flood or water damage to the site or works, loss of production, downtime, delay, liquidated damages, lost profit or revenue, loss of contracts, and claims by third parties, whether the loss is direct or indirect.

7.2 This clause applies to both of us: to the extent the law allows, neither of us is liable to the other for Consequential Loss, however caused, including by negligence or breach of contract.

7.3 Subject to clause 3, and to the extent the law allows, our only liability for a hire, however caused, including by negligence, is the remedies in clause 3.2 (repairing or replacing the equipment, or paying the cost of doing so). We pay nothing more on any other claim.

7.3A If clause 7.3 does not apply or is not enforceable for any reason, our total liability for a hire, however caused, is limited to the hire charges you've paid for that hire.

7.4 Our liability to you and your insurers together is no more than our liability to you.

7.5 Nothing in this clause limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

8. Your indemnity

You cover us for claims, loss and costs arising from: your use, possession or operation of the equipment; site conditions; your people and contractors; your breach of these terms; and your failure to follow clauses 4.2 and 6.2. The exception is to the extent the loss was caused by our negligence or breach.

9. Insurance

9.1 Before delivery you must hold, and send us certificates of currency for:

(a) public liability insurance of at least $20 million;

(b) contract works (material damage) insurance covering the site and works.

9.2 Your policies must note our interest and waive the insurer's right to recover from us (waiver of subrogation), or you must get your insurer to agree to that.

9.3 Any damage waiver we offer only reduces what you pay for damage to our equipment. It is not insurance and doesn't cover your site, works or anyone else.

10. Ending the hire

Either of us can end a hire on notice as set out in the quote. We can take the equipment back if it's being used unsafely, or if you don't pay after reasonable notice.

10A. Personal Property Securities Act (PPSA)

10A.1 If a hire runs, or may run, for more than 90 days, or has no fixed end date, it may be a "PPS lease". You agree we can register our interest in the equipment on the Personal Property Securities Register.

10A.2 To the extent the law allows, you waive your right to receive notices under the PPSA, including notice of a verification statement.

11. Law

Queensland law applies, and Queensland courts deal with any dispute.
